Trias Family Camping Trip

August 21st - 24th, 2008

Trias Family Camping Trip
Trece, Sung, Tyler, Sammy, Marivic, K-Eric, Christian, K-Efren, Jeremy, Remy, Alex, Grace, Alexia, Gabriel, Roy, Nida, Roy Jr., Ryan, and Max.

I can't tell you how much fun everyone had. Me family, Marivic, Christian and Kuya Eric started our trip to the mountains on Thursday at 3:00pm, we didn't get there until 10:00pm.

It was dark, I mean really dark. We were driving around in circles trying to figure out where to park. We finally found a spot but as soon as we set, this guy comes bursting out of his tent saying "Turn that light off!" I thought he was talking about the headlights from the car, apparently it was Marivics lamp. Dude was being an A**. He ticked me off and went over and burned his tent! hehe! JK! We moved to another locating. I told Marv I don't want to be neighbors with a dick.

Anyway, we finally found a spot and just set one of the tents up and called it a night. That morning we were laughing out loud cause we couldn't fine the restroom, apparently it was like 20 feet away from us, that just tells you how dark it was.

So anyway, we ended up settling within that area so everyone was within walking distance when Nida, Alex and Efren arrives. After unpacking we all went down Roads End and checked out the view. As you can see here it was very beautiful. Christian was the only one that when into the river to swim, such a brave guy, water is cold.

After that we went to the other side of the river near by our campground, the kids and K-Eric went down before me and I decided to join them thereafter with my dog Max. Marivic and Sung are so funny, they were so concern cause we haven't showed up for a while, so they got into the car and actually drove around the other campgrounds looking for us, when they could have just walked over to the river bank. Hello, did we forget to use our walkie-talkie? Our bad, all is well!

So it was getting dark and the kids and I decided to collect campfire wood for the night. I think the other half of the family showed up around 10:00 pm. Nida and Roy were having a fit because Jeremy threw up in their car during the drive through the curves up the mountains. Too funny and gross man!
Man, it was so peaceful and quiet until the other half of the troops arrive, you guys are loud man. It was cool though, there really wasn't anyone else around to bother. I mean there were a few campers here and there, beside we weren't to obnoxious. I can't believe how much food you guys brought, it was enough to supply us for the week; we were only going to be there for 3 days.

So, the next morning we get ready to go to Roads End again to check out the area where you can jump off the rocks and into the water. First of all the picture you see here on your left is not actually the river from Kings Canyon, this picture is from river in the Philippines. Can't you tell? We're such FOBS. So K-Eric and K-Efren went inside the cold water river and I finally decided to go in myself, along with Roy and I think Alex joined in as well. Water was extremely cold, but once your body gets use to the temperature, then it was no big deal. It was actually nice.

Afterwards we walked over to the other end of the river where the rocks were. We seen people jumping off the big rock so we wanted to join in. Brave guy Christian was the first to go in, or was it me that went in first to give it a test drive. I think it was me, can't remember. That's what happens when I don't update this website right away instead waiting three months to post it. Anyway, the jump was great, water was fine, and the current wasn't too strong. I think Christian and I went in together next, then K-Efren and Jeremy, then me and Tyler, then Christian again, Roy and Roy Jr., did Ryan go in with Roy? That was really fun.

Afterwards we did a little fishing, I tried to show the kids how to fish but I just did not have the patience for it. Besides, the beer was getting to me. hehe! As the night entered, we just had a feast at our campsite, we had a lot of food, man that was a lot of food! Lots of drinking too. When we went to bed, some of the troops encountered bear activities in the campground, they did not actually see it but from the size of the damage, only a bear would have the strength to do it.

It was an exciting adventure and everyone who attended had lots of fun. It was almost perfect, next time we'll be more prepared with new camping accessories, we find little things that can become a big advantage. Definitely coming back at least twice for 2009. Hope everyone who joined had a blast, until next year, we'll see you at Kings Canyon. We hope to see newcomers.

There's so much more to talk about but it's just too overwhelming. I wish I could just sit down and write about the entire event, but there's just not enough time. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy! Trece

Sammantha's STAR Student Report

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share with all of you Sammantha's test score from the STAR program. We received a letter for the Orange County Unified School District regarding the annual Standardized Testing and Reporting program and her test scores came out in the advanced level. English Language Arts and Mathamatics (click the images for a larger view). Great job Sammy!!

We are so proud of her, mom and dad has to force her to finish her homework before playing and it's a stuggle to get her to finish important things first then play.

As you can see it pays off. In some weekends we would have both Sammy and Tyler sit down and read a book for an hour, it's good to stimilate the mind instead of playing video games like Daddy does. hehe!

When we have the money we will eventually to take her out to dinner and celebrate her achievement.

Call her and congratulate her!

See ya!

Tyler's 7th Birthday; July 19, 2008

Oh boy! I'm so glad I only have two kids, man it's a lot of work satisfying what they wish for; but then it makes me happy that they're enjoying themselves and the support from they're family, close family and friends.

I hope everyone enjoyed the hot weather heat, burned part of my neck while I was cooking the BBQ. I always forget to put suntan lotion on my neck when I'm out in the sun, a little irratating the next day, but I'll get over it.

Who attended: Roger Jr., Naomi, Rog III, and Nina (again the first to get there even after being an hour late); Efren and Jeremy; Virg, Eric and Austin; Roy, Nida, T-Aida, Roy Jr. and Ryan; Marivic and Christian; Tyler and Sam's friends from the complex. It was pretty cool. Kids had fun!

There was plenty of food, man I think I cooked enough Korean BBQ for two days, as a matter of fact we still have leftovers and it's Monday now. Sung always says that it better to have more food than no food. Woman knows what she's saying.

Tyler was happy with all the gifts he received, especially the Nintendo DS, the games and cover that came from T-Virg, Christine and his friends. He's only played with some of the toys but has been hooked to his DS, but limited time only per Mom and Dad. More reading we say, Tyler is a good boy and listens to Mom and Dad, he tries hard to focus on school first before he plays. Thanks again everyone for the gifts!
Kids had fun playing games, Tyler is such a punk, he tells us that he doesn't want to play any of the games, just wants to be in the pool. Finally convinced him to play with his guest. Anyway, it was a little laim so I ended up giving Nina and Jeremy the last two gifts. Oh well, at least they were happy.

Anyway, if you guys want to see more pictures of any of the posting from each event, I created a new blog with photos only, so if you want you can just click "here" or type in the web address http://www.triasphotogallery.blogspot.com/. It's only Tyler's birthday so far but soon I'll get the rest of the pictures in.

Knott's Berry Farm

June 28th, 2008 - It was a nice and clear day to be out at the park, Trece's company that he works for (ACS, Inc.) with it's annual company picnic at Knott's Berry Farm.

I invited some of the family to join me and my family at Knott's for some fun at the amusement park.

Who attended: Trece, Sung, Sammy, Tyler, Virg, Eric, Austin, Marivic, Christian, Christine, Mel and Jacob.

The company provided free food and plenty of entertainment for the kids. During each event ACS gives out prize giveaways, raffled to the employees, grand prize was a laptop; but this year Christine nor I had no luck at all. Oh well!

After the picnic we headed off to the theme park. Kids were excited and I really wanted to go on that tower roller coaster, I think it's called "The Screamer". Most of the time we stayed at the Camp Snoopy area just for the kids. Marivic, Christine and I were able to ride one adult ride, "Montezuma's Revenge". It was an old ride but still worth it.

T-Virg, Eric, Autin, Christine, Mel and Jacob had to go for the day, I think it was around 3:30 or so. The rest of us decided to go on the Rapid water ride, I think it was a 1-1/2 hour wait but I did promise the kids that we'd go on it. So we waited and waited for almost 45 minutes, we get half way to the end of the line and what do you know, the ride breaks down. We gave it 10 to 15 minutes to see if the ride will reopen. No luck at all, this is the second time this happened to me on the same ride. So we get out of the line and Marivic and the kids went off to Camp Snoopy again while Sung and I went for refreshments.

I really wanted to ride that Screamer but by the looks of it, I don't think it was running anymore. It was running earlier during the day, but for some reason it stopped. I told Marivic that it's a sign and I shouldn't take that ride, it never works when I'm here. That ride is the death of me, you'll hear it in our newsletter that Trece died of a heart attack while riding the Screamer. Ahh, I'm not superstitious.

Well, it was almost 6:00 and we wanted to head over to Roy's and Nida's to watch the Pacquiao vs. Diaz fight. Like Diaz said after the fight, that mother f***** is fast, Sh**!! That was too funny.

Anyway, hope all who joined us had fun. Maybe someday we can do an adult theme park day only. Woo-hoo!!

Sammantha's 9th Birthday Party

The picture you see was for Sammantha's birthday, we had a blast having most of the family at our apartment complex along with Sammy's friends from the complex. We played some fun games, plenty of food to eat and had a blast in the swimming pool.

Sammy loved all of the gifts she received from family and friends especially the gift she's been waiting for from Mom and Dad, Nintendo DS.

I'm glad everyone had fun and surprisingly everyone was on time, only a couple of Filipino time. hehe! Anyway, thank you all for coming to Sammy's birthday party; hope to see you all again next year when she turns 10.

INTRODUCTORY

So when was the last time we had a family get together like this? 1996? Over ten years already. Wow, what happened? Are we just too busy to be involved with family gatherings or reunions? Lets try to keep up people, seems the only time we're actually all together is when there's a death in the family. Pretty sad!

I'm trying to make something happen here, so why don't you? I work, I spend time with the family, keeping the family healthy, help out with cooking, clean the house, etc. etc. and still have time to put a little time to make this website. Make some time people, if I can do it so can you.

I think it'll be good for us so we can get updates on our family activities. We're not getting younger, we're getting older, eventually the number of siblings will start to depreciate and someday you'll regret it.

So, let's start gathering information on this website for everyone to share, I'll be the head Coordinator and a couple of assistants would help. Send me your events and what you want to say along with pictures. Hope you enjoy this website, I think it will be something we can all share in memory.
